My boyfriend dumped me after i aborted the child. why was he so mean and unfair to me?

i had a very nice relationship with my boyfriend who is a 33 years old engineer. We were planning to marry. he told me to wait for until marriage but i told him there is no waiting in love. Then i turned pregnant and he was very happy and overjoyed. Last month however, i aborted the baby because i decided i'm not ready to be mother because its quite stressful to raise baby for now. Then after meeting me, he asked what name should we keep for the baby boy. I told him i aborted him. He got mad, abused me and said the meanest and most insulting things to me. Called me murderer of his dream, and stuff. He also spat on my face and left. He no longer returns my calls, emails and called on police when i knocked on his door. He has totally dumped me. I feel very hurt and betrayed because he has shown his love is not real. He said he would be by my side forever, and turned out to be a jerk. He played with my feelings
