Would you rather love or be loved?

i think you have to be able to love someone in order to receive love, and if everyone went into a relationship with what can i do for that person, instead of what can that person do for me, it would be a better relationship and the love will be there for both people in love..and i would have to love the person i m with or it would be meaningless wouldn't it?
